About this event

Bring a photo of your favourite game, cartoon or comic character and learn the basics of hand-building clay to bring your character to life.

Our clay teacher, Elsa Jara, will teach you the most common hand-building techniques, including: pinch pottery, coil building and slab building.

When: Friday 09 April and Friday 16 April, 1-3pm

Covid Safe Plan:

Bankstown Arts Centre has a council-approved 'CovidSafe Plan' in order to ensure the health and safety of all visitors and Arts Centre staff. Measures include physical distancing, contactless hand sanitising and regularly cleaning.

Masks are required for participants over the age of 12 years. All art class teachers will be required to wear a mask until NSW Health changes to the mandatory mask policy.

Cancellation Policy:

Bankstown Arts Centre cannot accept responsibility for changes to students’ personal circumstances that prevent attendance. Fees are non-refundable and there are no transfers or refunds if you miss a class.

If classes are cancelled due to COVID restrictions, students will receive a refund for the remaining classes in the term.

Collection of artwork

The artwork will need to be fired after the workshop. Please allow 2-3 week's time frame for artworks to be fired. Arts Centre will notify for collection via SMS. Please make sure a working mobile number is provided during bookings. Please collect within a week. Works left for more than 2 weeks are considered abandoned.

Student Conduct

Students attending classes will follow the rules of the Centre and the instructions of the teacher or other staff.

Students will not interfere with the work of others and will not behave in ways that present risks to the safety of themselves or others.

Students who present a risk to others or themselves through repeated inappropriate behaviour may be refused enrolment.

If children do not follow the rules or repeated requests from teachers or other staff to behave in an appropriate manner, parents will be contacted to collect their child from the Centre.

Refunds

Fees are non-refundable, and there are no transfers or refunds if you miss the workshop.

Public Transport

Bankstown Arts Centre is within five minutes walking distance from Bankstown Train Station and Bus Interchange! It is by far the easiest and most advisable way to get to the Arts Centre. We recommend that you plan your trip in advance if taking public transportation. Visit transportnsw.info for information on train and bus schedules.

Parking at the precinct

Parking is very limited at the precinct. Participants are suggested to use public transport wherever possible. Limited free parking and disabled parking is available at the community carpark around Bankstown.
